I bought two of these for my front flowerbeds. The description of the light says it is made of metal, and it is. But the ground stake is plastic. The parts of the light that are pictured are metal but there is a piece not shown that the neck of the light screws to and that part is plastic and is the ground stake repsonsible for holding up the light. I guess since plastic does not rust it was used but it will be interesting to see how well it stands up should a ball or something else hit the light. Changing the light bulbs require either tiny fingers or you have to use a screwdriver to remove 3 screws that hold the socket to the light shade in order to replace the bulb. I wish it was easier to change. The light is made in China also. The so-called “quick connect” couplings that are supposed to allow you a easy hook-up only work 50% of the time. I had to splice into the power wire to make a solid connection with wire nuts so that the light would stay lit.
They look good and operate fine so far but time will tell.

I purchased 5 of these about a month ago for my front yard, and liked them so much I just added 3 more in my back yard. Although they aren’t cheap in my opinion the quality is really great for the price. I have mostly Focus Industries fixtures in my back yard installed by my landscape contractor, so I looked into those first. The equivalent Focus fixture was over $200 each (YIKES!), so forget that. I tried some $20 Malibu “Professional Grade” fixtures as an experiment – let’s just say you get what you pay for so those went back to Home Depot. I have Kichler outdoor lighting fixtures on my house that I like very much, so I decided to try these. They were a great choice – the same quality as the Focus fixtures at a fraction of the price.

The “quick connect” fittings, while much better quality than Malibu’s, are still flaky. I tried them on a couple of the fixtures as an experiment. Sometimes they work on the first try, other times you have to try over and over to get a good connection. I highly recommend tossing them in the trash and buying some water-tight wire nuts to make a secure, reliable connection.

The other negative (and the reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5) is in order to change the bulbs you have to unscrew three screws from under the cap and remove it entirely to get to the bulb. Luckily they do provide xenon bulbs so at least you shouldn’t have to change the bulbs very often.

Great product. It arrived timely and was easy to install. the quick connects are a good idea, but still need a little work to get them to work flawlessly. overall, we are very satisfied with the lights and would buy them again.
